Wellington U15B Netball 18 Marlborough 13

1st Quarter: 3-7 / 2nd Qtr: 10-8 (7-1) / 3rd Qtr: 14-8 (4-0) / 4th Qtr: 18-13 (4-5)

Marlborough won this fixture 17-14 last year as U14's so squad knew it was going to be a tough match.

Despite trying to start strongly team found themselves 3-7 down at end of 1st Qtr.

However, they did not panic and believed they could improve possession. Defensive team of Gabriella, Liv and Mimi were joined by Jess this week and they denied Marlborough shooters ball and space in a great 7-1 2nd Qtr to lead 10-8 at Halfway point.

Opposition Player of the match Cordie, with Mimi & Rosie gradually began to dominate the midcourt helped by this week's Captain Dasha and Lexi.

Match continued to be end to end but Wellington Shooting team of Dasha, Biddy and Lexi were more accurate and reclaimed rebounds. As Marlborough tried to chase the game their moves did not lead to goals due to great interceptions and good marking and a 4-0 3rd Qtr meant Wellington lead 14-8.

Players were tiring but showed real determination sticking to the task to hang on 4-5 in final quarter to earn an impressive 18-13 victory.

Thanks to Dasha for captaining.

Congratulations to Cordie for being voted Opposition Player of the match for good performance dominating midcourt at Centre.

Well done to subs for efficient timing and officiating sideline.

Thanks to parents and all Wellington spectators for your support.
