Match Report
Wellington College 1st vs  English Schools Long Range Challenge
On: Saturday, 10 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

Wellington threw out the challenge and 17 schools and 180 pupils took up the invite, they all converged on The Lord Roberts Centre at Bisley on Saturday 10th November to contest the challenge. The course of fire was unlimited sighters and 20 shots to count at 50m, a distance only shot at by schools on 2 ocassions during the season.

Wellington as hosts were first there and began with the senior shooters who once finished coached the less experienced of which there were several on their first outing representing College.

Jemima Hince (C), as has become common these days, set the standard in the individual with a fine 196 out of 200 which stood as top score for most of the day until equalled by Christina Cuming of Bradfield, Christina eventually won on countback, her second 10 shots scored higher than Jemima's.

The biggest surprise of the day came from a Wellington 4th former, Amren Singh (H) who has struggled to consolidate his shooting of late. Coached by Egor Vert (R), he was the only person to shoot the perfect 100 on a 10 shot string, no one was more shocked than he.

Chris Vonchek (T), as team adjutant, not only shot well but produced a statistics spreadsheet that rapidly gave the results very soon after the last shot was fired. The Wellington A team in the fours won the challenge, Hince (C), Farrell (R), Vert (R) and Vonchek (T) whilst Vert (R) and Singh (H) won the junior pairs with Hince (C) and Farrell (R) picking up the senior pairs. A most satisfying day despite the hard work but well done to the Wellington pupils who performed admirably and hosted and organised the mass of shooters who attended whilst also keeping the mountain of results rolling throughout the whole event.
